At this time, Gabriella Charter School is at capacity for enrollment in Kindergarten through 8th grade.  If you wish to have your student(s) added to the wait list, please contact the GCS office at (213) 413-5741.

How to Enroll for the 2013-2014 School Year
Our wait list does not roll over from year to year due to district lottery requirements.  All students who are on the current 2012-2013 wait list will need to re-enter the next year's lottery.

Our public lottery for the 2013-2014 school year will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at
 6:00pm in the auditorium. To be included in the public lottery, interested families must submit
 a complete lottery form, including proof of residency (such as a phone bill) by Thursday, March
 7, 2013, no later than 5:00 pm. Faxes will not be accepted. Applicants are welcome to attend if
 they choose to do so, but their presence is not required to secure a spot at GCS.

Admissions Policies
Gabriella Charter School is open to all students residing in California who wish to attend the 
school. If the number of students applying for enrollment exceeds the openings available,
 entrance is determined by a random public drawing. GCS does not discriminate against any student
 on the basis of disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race, 
ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.

GCS gives preference to existing students of the school, children who have siblings already 
enrolled in the school, pupils who reside within the LAUSD attendance area and the children
 of GCS employees and board members, not to exceed 10% of the School’s total enrollment. If 
a child gains admission, any siblings who are also applying will automatically be given the next
 enrollment slot, if available for their grade, or they will move up to the top of the waitlist for
 their grade. Once a grade level is drawn to capacity, applications will continue to be drawn for
 position on a wait list.

Enrollment and Wait List Procedures
Within two weeks of the lottery, GCS notifies families in writing of their enrollment status
 (offered enrollment or placement on waiting list). Each student offered a space in the 
following year is required to complete an enrollment packet within two weeks of receiving the 
notification. Families are encouraged to schedule an enrollment intake appointment to assist 
families in filling out forms.

If a position opens during the course of the year, GCS will contact the family of the student on
 the top of the waiting list to offer their student admission to the school. Up until two weeks
 prior to the start of the upcoming school year, the family has ten (10) business days to confirm
 enrollment and return a completed enrollment packet in person. If a student is notified during
 the current school year, they will have 72 hours to confirm intent to enroll (via phone or email) 
and to submit a complete enrollment packet in person. Should the family decline the position,
 the next family on the list will be contacted until the open position is filled.

What is the Minimum Age for Admittance to Kindergarten in California?
California Ed Code states that, "to be admitted to kindergarten, a child must reach the age
 of five on or before October 1, 2013 for the 2013-14 school year,” as per the California
 Department of Education website.

Charter schools are public schools that are an enrollment option for all students, including
 students with disabilities. If you have questions or concerns regarding the enrollment or

2013-2014 Tour Schedule
We are happy to provide parents of prospective students an opportunity to visit our campuses.
 The tours are Thursday, February 7th 2013 and February 28th 2013 at 8:30am. To sign up for a
 tour, email the GCS office manager at info@gabri.org. Please sign up only if you are interested 
in enrolling your child in the 2013-2014 school year. Space is limited.
